Dryad Sculpture in Progress

Oh gracious... I got an Etsy convo yesterday telling me that one of my tree sculptures had arrived broken... give me this moment to pout and rant about the angry ape that they hired to work at the USPS warehouse...

I have actually read in some of the Etsy forums that people have known carrier employees to intentionally man-handle boxes with Fragile written on them. I don't want to believe that... could people be so disrespectful? I'm going to think that it was a TERRIBLE accident (even though I spent nearly an hour wrapping it up before boxing it to ship...ARG again!)

You can see that in the pics that this tree sculpture is being wrapped in a plaster and cloth body cast. Inadvertently, I have also wrapped myself in a plaster and cloth body cast. Luckily, I can wiggle a couple of fingers out to blog.
I am going to triple wrap the joints. Then, I'm going to put another layer over the top of this before I paint and seal her. I just can't stand my items breaking in the mail! My hubby said I need to mail them in a hard plastic box. Perhaps that is over-kill but I would rather do that than have to pay to have the item returned for repair and then mail back out.

Goodness! Thanks for listening to me rant... running off to grab book that reminds me how to Live Zen.... and perhaps grab glass of wine...

See you tomorrow!
Renee :)

Grrrr! I'd be livid, too. It doesn't matter who you mail with, things always seem to go wrong with every carrier. I'm just sorry that this happened with one of your beautiful pieces.

I've had 2 Etsy pieces get lost with USPS in the same week. GAH!

Maybe both of us will have better luck now and the crap mailings are behind us...I hope.

Peace & Love,
~Barb~

I have to say I know from experience that you pack well. The elf sculpture arrived in a box that looked as if they had played football with it and yet the elf sculpture arrived safely. I have decided that there are no mailing services that really care about how your package arrives.

Wow, this one is getting so cool.

My experience has been packing peanuts that cover all and leave no voids in a sturdy box protect best.

Sorry that happened.

And I just now remembered I have to answer your esty e-mail. I will!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
